Anxiety Programme - a journey around the world through the mind

This introductory class focused on self-compassion, kindness, humanity and mindfulness.

Māpura tutor and art therapist, Maggie van den Heuvel, reported that participants joined the class from all around the country: “It was inspiring to see such a keen and diverse group of young people eager to make the journey inside their own mind.”

The class started by making a collage that reflected their hearts - all the things in life that makes them happy.

Students in all MOA programmes receive free art materials, and Maggie included  collage materials she’d selected from her own supply for her students. She said the class was a great success with some wonderful insights during and after the session. All MOA programmes are free to join and no matter where participants live in Aotearoa New Zealand, they can be Māpura Online Artists.

MOA has been funded by the Ministry of Social Development for people living with diversity, adversity and disability.

Māngere Māpura

Māngere Māpura Arts is an online art studio based on experimentation and invention. We will be using fine art materials and everyday items to develop and refine ideas, and to share them.

The programme is for artists, non-artists and friends and whanau: forming an online creative community.

A Stroke of Creativity

Students explore drawing, painting, collage, poetry reading, story-telling and more as a means to exploring creativity and expressing thoughts and emotions.  heres some screenshots of the work achieved:
